2010 Player Spotlights: Adonis Saunders

Adonis Saunders
Olathe North

Position: Running Back/Defensive Back
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 190lbs.
Class: Senior

State to Note
In addition to football, Saunders also excels at running track. As a sophomore he won the Class 6A 100 Meter dash title in a time of 10.91 seconds and the 200 Meter dash title in a time of 22.16 seconds. He pushed his personal record in the 100 to 10.84 seconds this past track season, but pulled his hamstring before the state meet, preventing him from defending his 100 and 200 crowns.

Scouting Report
Saunders was a jack of all trades for Olathe North during their state title run in 2009. With two years of experience under his belt Saunders should easily be one of the top players in the league in 2010--and certainly the fastest. His speed and experience make him a constant threat from whichever positions Pete Flood lines him up at.

If Saunders takes over at running back, like expected, he will be following a lineage of running backs as impressive as any high school program in the Midwest.

It is also important not to sleep on Saunders on the defensive ball. Last season whenever he wasn't returning kicks for touchdowns, or making highlight reel catches and runs, Saunders was busy locking down receivers from his cornerback position. For the second year in a row he will be teaming up with Victor Simmons in the Olathe North secondary, which will make passing against the Eagles a risky thing to do for offenses.
